Many visitors arrive in Seoul with one device name in mind, usually the one they saw most online. In practice, a lower face rarely has one problem. The jawline may be loose, the area under the chin may hold fat, and the cheeks may look dull rather than saggy. At Planew Clinic near Gangnam Station, the main lifting devices are XERF, Onda and Titanium, and the plan often uses more than one, each on the area it suits. This guide explains how that split works, when Ultherapy fits better, how a skin booster such as Rejuran can be added on the same visit, and how to fit everything into a few days in Seoul.
Three devices, three different jobs
Onda: fat and firmness together. Onda uses microwave energy delivered through two handpieces. One works deeper, where it targets fat; the other works closer to the surface for tightening. That makes it the device we reach for when fullness, not only looseness, is the problem: a double chin, heavy lower cheeks, or a soft jawline. Published data are recent but specific. In a small study of 10 women with sagging under the chin, two sessions of a 2.45 GHz microwave device improved laxity grades at 12 weeks with no adverse effects reported (Zappia et al., 2025). Body Onda is offered for areas such as the abdomen and arms.
Titanium: lifting with brightness, minimal downtime. Titanium lifting uses a diode laser that delivers three wavelengths, 755 nm, 810 nm and 1064 nm, at the same time. The clinic describes it as a treatment with minimal discomfort and downtime, chosen when tightening and a brighter look matter together. The triple-wavelength platform used for this, Soprano Titanium by Alma Lasers, is FDA-cleared (FDA 510(k) K222064, 2022), but its use for facial lifting developed in Korean clinical practice, and the published evidence for that use is still limited. A 2025 commentary discusses its proposed role in facial aging rather than reporting trial results (Wan et al., 2025). We tell patients this directly.
XERF: depth control for loose skin. XERF is a monopolar radiofrequency device with three depth settings, so loose skin along the jawline and cheeks can be treated at different depths in one session. It is covered in detail in our guide to XERF lifting near Gangnam Station.
How the face is split: an example of area-by-area planning
Every plan at Planew Clinic starts with a 3D skin analysis and a one-on-one consultation with the doctor, who also performs the treatment. The analysis shows skin thickness and condition by area, and the plan follows from it. A typical way of thinking about the lower face:
Area and concern | Device usually considered | Why |
|---|---|---|
Under the chin: fat plus some looseness | Onda | Targets fat and tightens in the same treatment |
Jawline and lower cheeks: loose skin, little fat | XERF | Depth can be set for each zone |
Cheeks and overall face: mild laxity, dull tone | Titanium | Gentle tightening with a brighter look |
Skin texture, fine lines, enlarged pores | Rejuran or another booster | Works on skin quality rather than lift |
This is a starting point, not a fixed menu. Two people with the same concern can end up with different plans because their skin thickness and fat distribution differ. The doctor explains why each area gets what it gets, and whether a combination is worth it at all. Sometimes one device is enough.
When Ultherapy fits better than Onda
Onda and Ultherapy are often compared for a fuller lower face and jowls, and Planew Clinic offers both. A 2026 study of 171 East Asian patients treated at one institution compared a microwave device with high-intensity focused ultrasound (the technology behind Ultherapy). The microwave group improved faster in the first month and had fewer side effects, while the ultrasound group showed stronger lifting and elasticity gains by three months; the authors concluded the two have complementary roles (Nam et al., 2026).
In plain terms: where fat is a large part of the problem, Onda often comes first. Where the main issue is deeper sagging with little fat, Ultherapy Prime may be the better choice. Some plans use both on different areas.
Adding Rejuran on the same visit
Lifting devices work on firmness; a skin booster works on skin quality. Rejuran is a polynucleotide booster, and an international expert panel in 2026 described its uses in hydration, skin rejuvenation and scar remodeling, while noting that the evidence base is still limited and more trials are needed (Rho et al., 2026). In a randomized split-face trial around the eyes, a polynucleotide filler performed comparably to a hyaluronic acid filler overall, with greater improvement in roughness and pore volume (Lee et al., 2022).
At Planew Clinic, Rejuran can be administered in three ways: manual hand injection, the Hycoox injector, or CureJet’s needle-free technology. Whether a booster and a lifting device are done in the same visit depends on your skin and the plan; the doctor decides this at the consultation and explains the aftercare for both.
Fitting it into a short trip
Most patients return to their daily activities the same day after these lifting treatments, though mild redness, warmth or swelling can occur and recovery varies by person and by treatment. A few practical points for planning:
-
Book the consultation early in your stay. If the plan changes after the examination, you still have days left. Send your concerns and dates on WhatsApp, Instagram, KakaoTalk or LINE before you travel; English-speaking coordinators help with scheduling.
-
Leave a buffer before photos and flights. Results from tightening build over weeks, and any redness is easier to manage with a day or two to spare.
-
Getting to the clinic. The clinic is about one minute from Gangnam Station Exit 6. From Hongik University Station near Hongdae, Line 2 runs directly to Gangnam Station. From Myeongdong, take Line 4 and transfer to Line 2.
-
Hours that fit sightseeing. Weekdays until 8:30 PM and Saturdays until 4:30 PM, with no lunch break. Closed Sundays and public holidays.
-
Aftercare. The doctor explains post-treatment care before you leave, and the clinic's messaging channels are available for questions.
Who should wait or choose differently
Pregnancy, an implanted electronic device, or an active skin infection in the treatment area are reasons to postpone energy-based treatment. Tell the doctor about recent procedures, fillers or threads in the area. If laxity is advanced, energy devices may give only a modest change, and the consultation is the place to decide whether it is worth doing.
